The Procyon Telescoping Travel Rod is Daiwa's entry-level travel solution within the Procyon freshwater lineup, a single telescoping unit that collapses to a compact length for storage and extends to fishing length without assembly. Target use is casual freshwater fishing for bass and general species where portability matters more than top-end performance. Unlike multi-piece pack rods, a telescoping rod sacrifices some blank continuity and action consistency for convenience.

Blank is graphite, and both models are rated 7'2" with M power and F action. Guides are titanium oxide, adequately braid-compatible and lighter than stainless. Handle is split-grip cork, which Daiwa uses across the Procyon line as a step above foam. Lure weight 1/4–3/4 oz, line weight 6–15 lb (spinning) and 8–17 lb (casting), mid-range freshwater territory. Rod weight is approximately 4.5 oz, which is acceptable for a telescopic tool.

Exactly two models, separated by rod type: PCYN72TMFS (spinning) and PCYN72TMFB (casting/baitcast). Identical length, power, and action. The pair covers the two main freshwater setups without introducing additional decision-making. Neither model is a serious performance rod; both are honest tools for casual anglers who need something compact.

The casting version is unusual in a telescoping format, most travel rods default to spinning. Allows baitcast reel users to maintain their preferred setup while traveling. Medium-heavy feel is appropriate for bass with reaction baits up to 3/4 oz.
