Purist (ピュアリスト) is Daiwa's standard-tier native trout series, built for wild fish in Japanese mountain streams and rivers: yamame, amago, iwana and rainbows, fished with spinners, spoons and minnows on 1.5 to 14 lb line. Twelve two-piece models cover 1.12 m to 2.24 m (3'8" to 7'4") and 65 to 113 g. The blank uses X45 carbon bias wrapping, which Daiwa credits with holding the blank straight through the flip, backhand and bow-and-underhand casts that stream fishing forces on an angler working under branches. Trim is deliberately traditional: a natural wood reel seat, cork grips and a beige blank with matching guide wraps. The spread is wide for a single series. At the short end, 38ULB is a 3'8" baitcaster at 1.5 to 7 g for headwater pockets, and 46XULB and 48XUL drop to 1 to 5 g for the smallest spinners. The 43UL, 48UL, 53UL and 56L cover the standard 1.5 to 7 g and 2 to 9 g stream window. At the top, 63L and the 7'4" 74ML at 4 to 18 g and 4 to 14 lb handle wider rivers and lake shorelines. Four baitcasting models (38ULB, 46ULB, 51LB, 46XULB) sit alongside eight spinning models, reflecting how common short-range baitcast accuracy work is in JDM stream fishing.
