Saltiga SJ

Saltiga SJ is Daiwa's flagship tubular slow jigging line, model-changed in September 2023 with the 61B-00 and 61B-6 rungs added in 2024. Slow pitch jigging is a distinct discipline rather than a light version of ordinary jigging. The rod is loaded and released so the jig is kicked up and then falls on slack line, fluttering or gliding, and the eat usually comes on that fall. That is why the blanks are slim, slow-tapered and high-rebound, and why the weight range runs opposite to what the name suggests: the lightest SJ rod starts at 80 g, where the light jigging line peaks, and the heaviest takes 800 g, four times the ceiling of the heaviest LJ rod. All eight models are baitcasting, one piece and an identical 6'1" (1.85 m), so nothing varies but power, and power is given as a rung number rather than a letter. The ladder ascends 00, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6: 61B-00 (80 to 150 g, PE max 1.2, 103 g), 61B-0 (100 to 180 g, PE max 1.5), 61B-1 (120 to 210 g, PE max 1.5), 61B-2 (150 to 250 g, PE max 2.0), 61B-3 (180 to 330 g, PE max 3.0, the all-round rung), 61B-4 (200 to 350 g, PE max 3.0), 61B-5 (230 to 500 g, PE max 4.0) and 61B-6 (250 to 800 g, PE max 4.0, 129 g). No UL-to-XH power label applies anywhere in the series. Blanks are SVF nanoplus with X45 Full Shield, guided with AGS R-frame carbon guides, on a ZERO SEAT Active Hold Trigger developed for this series.
