Saltiga SLJ

Saltiga SLJ is Daiwa's standard-tier super light jigging line, launched in Japan in 2021 with two models added in 2022. Super light jigging is the lightest of the four Japanese jigging bands and the one with the broadest species list. Where conventional jigging runs 100 to 300 g and light jigging 40 to 200 g, SLJ works 10 to 80 g on PE 0.4 to 1.0, generally shallow, and Daiwa names madai, small yellowtail-class fish, hata and other rockfish, isaki, hobo and sawara. It overlaps tairaba head weights in the 40 to 80 g band but plays a different game: these rods are built to jerk a jig and set a hook, where a tairaba rod is built for a constant retrieve and no hookset. Seven one-piece rods cover 5'10" to 6'4" (1.78 to 1.93 m) at 73 to 97 g, five spinning and two baitcasting, rated 10 to 45 g, 15 to 60 g or 20 to 80 g. Five carry Daiwa's SMT (Super Metal Top), a superelastic titanium alloy tip section that transmits vibration from bites too soft for carbon to register, with tip diameters down to 0.5 mm. The two TG (Thrill Game) models, 61MS TG and 61MLS TG, use a MEGATOP carbon solid instead and run thicker tips at 1.2 and 1.3 mm. Blanks are HVF nanoplus reinforced with X45, and every rod uses a carbon-fiber AIR SENSOR SEAT. The L, ML and M letters are internal grading rather than the American power scale; the specification that matters is the gram range and the PE class.
