The Saltist Boat (New) is Daiwa's entry-to-mid-range saltwater boat rod series at $149.99 MSRP. It fits anglers fishing from a vessel, kelp-zone yellowtail, small-to-mid-grade bluefin, bass, groundfish, and similar nearshore offshore species. The 'boat' category means these rods are used at close to medium range from a moving or anchored vessel instead of casting distance. Blanks are HVF graphite, notably a step up from the plain graphite found in budget boat rods at this price, which is part of the Saltist Boat's value proposition.
Construction features EVA full-grip handles on both spinning and conventional models; the conventional (casting) rods additionally use a Diamond fore grip for palming. All models have aluminum oxide guides. No fancy guide system or carbon guides, the HVF blank provides sensitivity beyond the price point. Reviewed by BDOutdoors as light, fun, and effective for the stated saltwater applications. Eight models divide evenly between conventional (B) and spinning (S), each available in MH and H power, in both 7' and 7'6" lengths.
This 2x2x2 structure provides simple selection by power and length. Conventional models carry 15–30 lb (MH) or 20–50 lb (H) line; spinning models rate heavier, 40–80 lb (MH) and 55–100 lb (H), showing the spinning versions are primarily braid-based setups for vertical jigging or heavier live-bait work where line class diverges dramatically from conventional.

A closer look at notable models.
The heavy-braid spinning configuration. 55–100 lb line rating is made for high-capacity PE braid for vertical jigging or live-bait fishing for large yellowtail, bluefin, or tuna. Significantly heavier line class than the equivalent conventional model despite identical power rating.
Longest conventional model at MH. The 7'6" length provides additional leverage for fighting fish and slightly more casting distance when needed; 15–30 lb mono or fluorocarbon suits lighter live-bait and swimbaiting applications.
