The Saltist Inshore Light Action Surf series serves West Coast US inshore and surf fisheries, specifically halibut, surf perch, corbina, and shallow rockfish, using light to medium-light lure weights thrown from surf, pier, or jetty. The series name explicitly flags its light-action orientation; this is outside the heavy surf rod for distance casting with pyramid sinkers lane. The target angler fishes light jigs, soft plastics, and small swimbaits in the surf zone or nearby bay structures.
Blanks use Daiwa's HVF graphite with X45 bias-wrap construction and high-modulus, low-resin layup, resulting in lightweight, sensitive blanks that amplify light-bite detection at distance in moving water. Seaguide saltwater-resistant guides are braid-compatible. EVA rear grip. Two-piece construction. The series carries a 5-year Daiwa warranty. Actions are fast (F) or regular (F with R notation on some models) depending on technique. Nine rods: one casting, eight spinning; lengths from 7'3" to 9'6".
Power ranges ML through MH. The lone casting rod (STIN731MHB) is the outlier at 7'3" MH, likely a jig-head bait or swimbaiting-specific model. Spinning models dominate and scale from 7'6" (lighter finesse end) up to 9'6" (longer-distance presentations). The 8'3" ML and 9' ML models cover the drop-shot and finesse-jig niche Daiwa calls out specifically for guide spacing.

A closer look at notable models.
The only casting model in an otherwise all-spinning series. MH power at 20–40 lb line is heavier than all spinning counterparts, suggesting it is intended for swimbaits or jig-head bass-style presentations on the surf line instead of light-touch finesse work.
Shortest and lightest-power spinning model. 7'6" L power is designed for drop-shot and finesse soft-plastic work in calmer bay or low-surf conditions. Daiwa specifically calls out guide spacing on the 762 for drop-shot optimization.
Longest model at 9'6". M power with fast action and 15–40 lb line (braid-inclusive) allows longer casts in surf conditions or elevated rock positions without sacrificing the light-lure sensitivity the series is based on.
