Seabass Flat X

Seabass Flat X is an entry line, at the bottom of the ladder that runs up through Lateo and Labrax AGS to Morethan and Branzino. The name states the two jobs. Seabass means suzuki, the Japanese seabass taken on minnows and vibration baits in harbors and tidal rivers, a fishery that maps closely onto American shore striper fishing. Flat means flatfish, specifically hirame (Japanese flounder) and magochi (flathead), which are fished by casting and retrieving from open sand beaches much the way surf anglers work fluke water on the US coast. One rod covering both is a reasonable first purchase, and the five models are built around that. All are two-piece spinning: 86ML, 90ML and 96ML at 7 to 35 g and PE 0.6 to 1.5, then 96M and 100M at 10 to 50 g and PE 0.8 to 2.0. Lengths run 2.59 m to 3.05 m, or 8'6" to 10'0", and blank weights 130 g to 170 g, heavier than the tiers above because the carbon is lower grade. The technology list is short and honest: Braiding X, a carbon tape wrapped in an X pattern over the butt section to resist twist under load, plus K-guides that shed line tangles. A rod bag is included.
