Shore Jigging X

Shore Jigging X is Daiwa's 2022 budget entry into the discipline and sits outside the Dragger naming, one rung below Dragger X. Shore jigging is the Japanese practice of casting metal jigs from breakwater, rock ledge and surf for pelagic fish that come within range of the bank, principally buri and hiramasa amberjack, sawara and dorado, worked with a jerk-and-fall retrieve rather than a steady swim. The nearest American reference is surf and jetty casting for striped bass and false albacore, with lures three to five times heavier. Four models, all two-piece. The 2.90 m 96M takes 15-60 g jigs and 10-50 g plugs on PE 1-2, at 275 g. The 96MH (2.90 m, 280 g) and 100MH (3.05 m, 290 g) both take 20-80 g jigs and 15-65 g plugs on PE 1.5-3, the general-purpose pairing for sawara, dorado and mid-size amberjack, and both also handle hard-bottom species such as kijihata and akahata. The 2.90 m 96H at 292 g steps to 30-100 g jigs and 20-80 g plugs on PE 2-4 for heavier metal in depth or current. The paired jig and plug numbers reflect the fact that a plug of a given weight presents more bulk and more water resistance than a compact jig, so its ceiling is set lower. Construction is Braiding X carbon tape at the outermost layer of the butt section, double-foot K guides with Alconite rings, and a DPS reel seat.
