Silver Creek AK

AK is akiaji (アキアジ), the Hokkaido name for autumn-run chum salmon, and these three rods are built for that fishery and for pink salmon (karafuto masu) alongside it. The technique is float lure fishing: a large buoyant float set above a jig or spoon, cast long from a beach, river mouth or harbor wall and drifted through holding water. The rig has heavy air resistance, so casting distance is the primary design constraint, and Daiwa pairs that with a tip fine enough to register the soft pickup a chum gives and a butt with enough reserve to control a 5 kg fish through a snaggy landing. All three are three-piece: 102MH at 3.10 m (10'2"), 10 to 50 g, 10 to 25 lb, 218 g; 120H at 3.66 m (12'0"), 10 to 60 g, 10 to 30 lb, 230 g; and 130H at 3.96 m (13'0"), 15 to 70 g, 12 to 30 lb, 270 g. Blanks are HVF Nanoplus carbon with X45 bias wrapping against the torsional load of a long float cast, and V-JOINT ferrules to keep the bend continuous across two joints. Daiwa notes the lineup covers modern akiaji variants including float lure, harbor float fishing and surf casting. Nothing here relates to stream trout despite the Silver Creek name.
