Glass Progressive is the fiberglass composite branch of Daiwa's Silver Creek native trout family. Glass loads deeper and recovers more slowly than carbon, which suits cranking sinking minnows on a steady retrieve and keeps a small treble pinned when a stream trout turns at close range, but conventional glass is heavy. Daiwa's answer is SVF Glass, glass fiber packed at high density with reduced resin, plus Glatech construction, which lays circumferential carbon sheet around lengthwise unidirectional glass. The result is nine models at 68 to 87 g, light enough for all-day stream work. Lengths run 1.37 m to 1.85 m (4'6" to 6'1"), with ratings of 1.5 to 7 g or 2 to 10 g on 2 to 8 lb. Daiwa specifically cites steady retrieves with sinking minnows on PE line and accurate casting down to 2 g. X45 bias wrapping and V-JOINT ferrules carry over from the rest of the family. Guides are titanium-frame SiC in large diameters for line clearance, with LRV guides on the baitcasting models. Every model carries a -G suffix marking the glass blank. Three baitcasters (46ULB-G, 46LB-G, 51LB-G) sit alongside four spinning models, and 48UL-G and 46ULB-G are also offered as four-piece versions for travel.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 9 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
