The base Silver Wolf is the standard tier of Daiwa's chinning family, under MX, SX and the EX flagship but above the entry Chinning X. Daiwa rebuilt it around an urban chinning brief, meaning short sessions in city rivers, canals and harbor basins rather than remote coast. Blanks use HVF carbon, which raises fiber density by cutting resin content, joined with a V-Joint bias ferrule and finished with a short, stiff Mega Top solid tip plus multi-point small-diameter K guides that keep braid off the blank. Two-piece lengths run about 7'3" to 8'3", lure ratings 3 to 21 g, PE 0.4 to 1.5, blank weights 85 to 110 g, carbon content 99 percent.
The species is kurodai, a black seabream that feeds on crabs, shrimp and shellfish and is fished with lures imitating them. The standard presentation is a free rig crawled and hopped on bottom, with topwater plugs and sinking pencils for shallow tidal windows. In American terms it reads as sheepshead and redfish fishing: soft plastics on shell and structure, short casts, and a take that feels like the rig getting heavy.
The lineup splits evenly between baitcasting and spinning. The baitcasters exist because free-rig work is a controlled-fall technique where the clutch, not the rod, governs the drop. The spinning models handle the lightest sinkers and casting angles into wind.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 4 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
