Chinning is the Japanese lure fishery for kurodai and kibire, the black and yellowfin seabream that hold in harbors, canals, tidal river mouths and oyster flats. The dominant method is the free rig, a sliding sinker ahead of a crab or shrimp imitation, dragged and hopped in constant contact with sand, shell and rubble. Topwater plugs and sinking pencils cover fish that push shallow on the flood. The nearest American reference points are sheepshead and redfish on soft plastics over oyster bar: short accurate casts, bottom feel ahead of casting distance, and bites that arrive as weight rather than a jolt.

Silver Wolf EX is the top rung of Daiwa's four-tier Silver Wolf ladder, above SX, MX and the base Silver Wolf, developed with chinning specialist Kohei Mori. Blanks are SVF Compile-X Nanoplus wrapped in X45X full-shield bias carbon, joined with V-Joint Alpha and rung with AGS carbon-frame guides on an Air Sensor carbon reel seat. Most models carry a Megatop or Megatop R high-modulus solid tip; one tubular model completes the range. Two-piece lengths run roughly 7'2" to 8'0", lure ratings 4 to 21 g, PE 0.4 to 1.5, blank weights 73 to 100 g.

The lineup leans heavily baitcasting, against the spinning default in most JDM light saltwater. Free-rig fishing rewards a thumbed clutch that lets the sinker fall on controlled slack, and a reel mounted above the blank puts the fingers directly on graphite. Spinning is retained for the lightest rigs.
