Steez is Daiwa's flagship Japanese bass brand, launched in 2006 as the successor to Team Daiwa (1988 to 2005), with Toshinari Namiki among the anglers involved from the start. The current generation, sold in Japan as the 26 Steez, is a full redesign of the 2021 lineup and began shipping in December 2025. Daiwa's stated development concept is senrigan, or clairvoyance: enough sensitivity that the angler reads bottom composition and lure position by feel rather than by sight.
Thirteen rods, three spinning and ten baitcasting, from 6'0" to 7'1", built in Japan with detachable grip-joint handles. Blanks are SVF Compile-X Nano Plus and SVF Nano Plus using Toray M46X fiber, wrapped with X45 Full Shield and 3DX. AGS carbon-frame guides and Carbon Wrapping System component mounts run through the line, solid tips come in two grades (MegaTop and MegaTop R, the latter on Toray T1100G), and the Zero Seat reel seat is used across the lineup.
Every model carries a code name alongside its spec code: Hermit on the C64UL-ST BF at 1/32 to 1/4 oz, plus Spectre, Machinegun Cast Type-1.5 and Type-2.5, Hurricane, Black Jack, Skyray68, Harrier, and Gray Ghost and Hellfire on the spinning side. Daisuke Aoki supervised the two Grandee Feel models, including the S60XUL-SV ST at 68 g rated 1/96 to 3/32 oz. The band runs from there up to the C610MH at 1/4 to 2 oz, with rod weights between 68 and 110 g.
