The Champion XP is Dobyns' technique-specific bass rod family, sold as upper-mid-tier and made for tournament and serious bass anglers who carry a dedicated rod per technique. The lineup is organized as a matrix where length, power, and action are all picked to optimize a single presentation, with the model suffix telling you which one. It sits above the Fury budget line and below the Champion Extreme HP and Sierra tournament tiers in Dobyns' hierarchy. Blanks are high-modulus graphite (except the GLASS models, which use E-glass for crankbait work where a slower load keeps trebles pinned).
Guides are Fuji Alconite with Kevlar wrapping at the feet, reel seats are Fuji graphite, and handles use AA-grade Portuguese cork. Each rod is designed in California by Gary Dobyns and built to Dobyns' tournament-rod spec. Lifetime warranty against defects. About 64 models across the sub-lines. Suffix codes decode the intended technique: plain C, CFH, and CSH are general bass casting for Texas rigs, jigs, and spinnerbaits; CB is moderate-fast crankbait; GLASS is the E-glass crankbait variant; FLIP and PUNCH are flipping and pitching heavy cover; SB, HSB, MAG, and ULTRAMAG run from medium swimbaits up to 8 to 20 oz behemoths; AR is for Alabama-rig umbrella presentations; SF is spinning finesse for drop shot, shaky head, and ned rig.
Lengths run 6'3" to 8'10", powers M through XXH. Pricing $260 to $320.
