The Maverick is Dobyns' entry-level all-graphite series, originally positioned at a $99 price point in response to demand for an affordable, functional bass rod under the Dobyns name. It serves recreational bass anglers who want a balanced, sensitive rod without moving up to the Fury or Champion tier. Techniques span finesse spinning through heavier casting applications for largemouth and smallmouth bass.
Blanks are all-graphite with high-modulus construction and Kevlar wrapping for added resistance to blank twist. Action is fast throughout the lineup, both spinning and casting models. The build is straightforward: no premium cork or exotic guide materials. Reviews position it one step below the Fury in overall smoothness and sensitivity, but functional for its price bracket. The 11-model series splits 4 spinning (6'–7') and 7 casting (7'–7'3").
Spinning models run L to M power, covering finesse applications and medium presentations. Casting models run MH to XH in 7' and 7'3" lengths, with one 7' M moderate-fast crankbait variant (MK705CB). The 7'3" XH (MK735C) is the heaviest model, handling line to 25 lb and lures to 1.5 oz for punching or heavy cover work.

Model notes
3 of 11 modelsShortest model in the series. Light power and 6' length target finesse applications and smaller-water scenarios. Lure floor starts at 1/8 oz, heavier than the UL TFO counterpart, so this is a finesse rod with some versatility instead of a true ultralight.
The only moderate-fast (MF) model in the lineup. Medium power with MF action fits crankbait and moving bait presentations where a faster-recovering tip would over-pull hooks. Differentiates itself clearly from the fast-action casting models.
Heaviest model in the Maverick lineup. XH power and 7'3" length cover flipping, punching heavy mats, or fishing large swimbaits. The Maverick's graphite construction at this power level is the limiting factor; anglers fishing serious heavy cover routinely report needing a more durable option.
