Maverick

The Maverick is Dobyns' entry-level all-graphite series, originally positioned at a $99 price point in response to demand for an affordable, functional bass rod under the Dobyns name. It serves recreational bass anglers who want a balanced, sensitive rod without moving up to the Fury or Champion tier. Techniques span finesse spinning through heavier casting applications for largemouth and smallmouth bass.

Blanks are all-graphite with high-modulus construction and Kevlar wrapping for added resistance to blank twist. Action is fast throughout the lineup, both spinning and casting models. The build is straightforward: no premium cork or exotic guide materials. Reviews position it one step below the Fury in overall smoothness and sensitivity, but functional for its price bracket. The 11-model series splits 4 spinning (6'–7') and 7 casting (7'–7'3").

Spinning models run L to M power, covering finesse applications and medium presentations. Casting models run MH to XH in 7' and 7'3" lengths, with one 7' M moderate-fast crankbait variant (MK705CB). The 7'3" XH (MK735C) is the heaviest model, handling line to 25 lb and lures to 1.5 oz for punching or heavy cover work.
