The Sierra Micro is Dobyns Rods' dedicated micro-guide casting and spinning bass series, sitting in the mid-tier of the Sierra family and distinguished primarily by its use of Fuji micro-guide trains instead of the larger conventional guides on standard Sierra models. Anglers here are bass fishermen who work finesse-to-medium presentations, shaky heads, finesse jigs, tube baits, Neko rigs, light Texas rigs, where line management and casting accuracy with lighter lines (6–12lb) are priorities. The micro-guide frame reduces overall weight and improves blank-load feedback on lighter setups.
Blanks are high-modulus graphite with Kevlar wrapping, finished with Fuji reel seats, Fuji micro-guides, and Portugal AA-grade cork handles. The Kevlar wrap adds durability at the stress zones without significant weight penalty. Construction is consistent across all nine models; the series is sold as offering premium component quality at a mid-range price, accessible to anglers who want Fuji hardware without paying flagship-tier money. Nine rods in both spinning (SF suffix) and casting (C suffix), 6'6" to 7'6".
Power runs MH to XH on casting models; ML to M on spinning. Action is exclusively Fast across the range except the 766FLIP (Fast). A notable outlier is the SSM766FLIP: 7'6" Heavy, rated to 2oz and 14–30lb line, which is a flipping/pitching-specific model added to the series despite the much heavier power class. Spinning models are limited to the 702SF and 703SF. No medium-light casting or XH spinning options.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 9 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Heavier spinning option, covers Senkos, light jigs, and shaky heads on heavier fluorocarbon. The 3/16–5/8oz range and 17lb ceiling allow braided-line drop-shot and heavier finesse work versus the 702SF.
Primary finesse spinning option. ML/Fast suits tube baits, light shaky heads, and drop-shot to smallmouth and spotted bass. Reviewers note strong performance with 1/8–3/16oz tubes.
Heaviest standard casting model before the flipping stick. At 1.5oz max and 25lb line, this handles heavy football jigs, large swim jigs, and big-bladed baits in the XH class while keeping the series' micro-guide train.
Dedicated flip/pitch model, clearly differentiated by its 2oz lure ceiling and 30lb line rating. Unusual for a micro-guide series to include a flipping stick; the micro-guides still provide benefit on braid management when pitching tight.
