The Megabass Cookai Gulf is a JDM saltwater spinning series designed for inshore boat fishing, primarily seabass (suzuki/hirame class), black sea bream (kurodai), and incidental light pelagic species such as sago mackerel and Japanese pond smelt encountered in the same grounds. Megabass markets the series as drawing on bass tournament rod development principles, ergonomics and casting efficiency translated to inshore salt. Not for surf or offshore big game; the maximum lure ratings (20–50 g) and PE line caps (1.2–2.0) indicate a controlled-range inshore role.
Blanks use Megabass's 5D Graphite System for weight-to-casting-distance efficiency and blank stabilization after release, a key requirement when fishing lighter jig heads and hard lures for seabass. The two-piece design is consistent across the lineup. Rod weights range roughly 109–142 g. Action codes span R (Regular) for softer, more parabolic presentations and MF (Medium Fast) for crisper jerk and twitch work. Maximum lure weight steps from 20 g (CKG-53LS) to 50 g (CKG-70M+S), reflecting the shift in target technique as length increases.
Five models span 5'3"–7'7" in lengths, all spinning. The CKG-53LS (5'3" L/R) is a close-range boat rod for finesse seabass work. CKG-63MLS (6'3" ML/MF) is the light-action versatility rod. CKG-70M+S (7'0" M+/R) is the heavier-duty multi-purpose model. CKG-72MS (7'2" M/MF) gives anglers power-play versatility for boat seabass, black sea bream, and light bluefish. CKG-77MS (7'7" M/R) extends reach for open-bay casting.

A closer look at notable models.
Shortest model at 5'3" with Light power and Regular action. Max 20 g lure / PE 1.2, suited to very close-range boat presentations, finesse seabass jig work near structure, or made for smaller species in confined bay conditions.
The M+ power designation (between M and MH) gives extra backbone over the M models while the Regular action maintains a parabolic flex for subduing larger fish. Max 50 g / PE 2.0, handles the heavier end of bay casting.
