The GreatHunting X-GLASS COMPOSITE is a trout-focused casting series from Megabass made for anglers pursuing wild trout in streams and rivers, from headwater iwana and yamame to large migratory species such as sakuramasu, satsukimasu, amemasu, rainbow, and brown trout. The series is based on a JDM design philosophy made for experienced trout game anglers who need precise lure operation at both short and long range. The blank uses ITO Engineering's proprietary XG (X-Glass) construction, which varies glass fiber content across blank sections to independently tune "torque" (pliable tracking) and "tension" (carbon-like response) in each zone.

This section-by-section tuning produces a blank that tracks moving current and absorbs short strikes with glass-like compliance while maintaining sharp tip recovery for minnow control, a combination Megabass describes as performing without the lag typically associated with glass. Both models are 4-piece for portability and use a composite of carbon and glass throughout the blank. The lineup covers two lengths at the same ML power: the 5'5" GH55-4ML-XG serves tight mountain-stream environments demanding short, accurate casts with lighter lures (4–16g), while the 6'2" GH62-4ML-XG steps up for more open river corridors with slightly expanded lure and line range (5–20g, 4–14lb).

Both are casting (baitcasting) models. Spinning counterparts exist in this series is absent. Pricing sits in the mid-to-upper JDM specialty tier.

A closer look at notable models.

GH55-4ML-XG Casting · 5'5" · ML

At 5'5", this is the headwater model. The compact length allows overhead and sidearm casts in confined riparian cover. Lure range of 4–16g covers small spoons, minnows, and inline spinners used in mountain-stream trout fishing. The 4-piece breakdown suits pack-in access.

GH62-4ML-XG Casting · 6'2" · ML

The 6'2" model extends reach for main-river and tributary applications where longer casts target sakuramasu and large rainbow trout. The slightly heavier lure ceiling (5–20g) accommodates heavier minnows and mid-sized spoons. Line bump to 4–14lb matches larger quarry.
