B-AREA FUN

The Smith B-AREA FUN (BAF) is a three-rod series built specifically for area bass fishing in managed Japanese fishing ponds (kanri tsurijō), where largemouth bass are stocked and catch-and-release is the norm. The series is made for anglers. Beginners through dedicated area regulars. Who want a compact, specialized bass rod for topwater plugs, small hard baits, and light soft lures in confined settings where water surface proximity makes longer rods impractical. All three rods are 4'7" UL Moderate carbon rods weighing 65–81g, with Fuji guides throughout.

The Moderate action was chosen to aid hook absorption on tentative bass bites and keep fish hooked through the fight, instead of pulling hooks under the rod's own recovery speed. Despite the light power rating, the butt section carries enough reserve for fish over 60 cm. Documented by Smith in their field testing. The carbon tubular blank runs to 1.5 mm tip diameter. The series covers one-piece baitcasting, two-piece baitcasting, and two-piece spinning configurations, providing a complete area-bass tool set under one name.

BAF-CG47UL is the 1-piece baitcasting model with gun grip for topwater plug work (to 3/8 oz, up to 12 lb), available in multiple colors; BAF2-C47UL carries the same action in a 2-piece baitcasting version for transport; BAF2-S47UL/MNB is the 2-piece spinning option at 65g (to 5/16 oz, 8 lb) for finesse soft-lure presentations.
