The Smith PANORAMA SHAFT is a long-range shore spinning series built for surf and coastal lure fishing made for sea-run fish from open beaches, rocky points, and estuaries. The 10'6" models handle a wide lure spectrum. Small minnows through heavy jig-minnows and metal jigs. While the 9'6" ML steps down for lighter presentations in calmer conditions. Target angler: an experienced shore caster who wants one rod covering multiple techniques instead of dedicated sticks. Blanks are constructed with layered graphite moduli (24t+30t+40t) to produce a stiff butt for distance casting and a sharper tip that transmits takes at range and allows crisp lure control.
The 2-piece spec and included rod bag suggest a practical transport priority. MF (moderate-fast) action suits both direct-clip metal jigs and suspending minnows without compromising either. Line and lure ratings show substantial overlap between the two 10'6" variants. MH sits higher for heavier jigs, ML for finesse sinking or floating minnows. All three models are 2-piece spinning rods; Casting or travel variants exist in this series is absent. The lineup splits by length (9'6" vs 10'6") and power (ML×2, MH×1).
The two 10'6" rods are separated by power: MH for heavier lure work and larger fish potential, ML for the lighter end of the same beach or rock platform. A third 9'6" ML option trades casting range for easier handling in confined spots.
