Troutin'Cast TACTIST

The Smith Troutin' Cast TACTIST is a two-piece baitcasting rod series designed for Japanese area trout fishing, catch-and-release trout management lakes ("area" fishing) where light lures, barbless hooks, and refined technique are required. The series was developed by Hitoshi Hiramoto. Target angler is the dedicated area trout specialist who wants precise, active lure manipulation, twitching, shaking, lifting, in a controlled stillwater environment. Blanks use 24-ton and 30-ton combined graphite construction with an unsanded surface finish.

All three models carry Fast action with Light power, suited to delivering and working lures in the sub-8 g range on 6 lb line. Guides are Fuji titanium frame Torzite, which minimize friction for the ultra-light lines typical of area trout. The micro K-guide top is included, as is a patented neodymium magnet hook keeper embedded in the front cork, a practical detail that lets anglers re-rig quickly without fumbling for hook holders. The two-piece construction folds to 73–82 cm, making transport manageable without sacrificing blank performance through a conventional ferrule.

All three models are baitcasting with Fast action and Light power. Lengths are 4'2" (TT-42), 4'8" (TT-48), and 5'3" (TT-53). The 4'2" is exceptionally short, optimized for close-range area work where the casting environment is contained and presentation precision outweighs reach. The 5'3" provides measurably more casting distance for larger ponds. All models share the same lure and line ratings.
