Troutin'Spin REALFLEX

The Smith Troutin'Spin REALFLEX is a native trout spinning series supervised by Hitoshi Hiramoto and made for anglers working small mountain streams and bush-lined rivers for wild (native) trout species, iwana, yamame, amago, with light lures. The "REALFLEX" name describes the design priority: a smooth, continuous flex from tip to butt that accommodates varying lure weights and water conditions without stiff transitions, reducing the skill gap when casting under tight canopy or into fast, variable current. Blanks combine 30t and 40t carbon graphite with woven graphite for a layered construction that provides both the light swing weight essential in tight stream environments and the progressive flex the series is named for. Guides are Fuji MNST titanium-frame SiC-S from tip to guide No. 4 or equivalent, transitioning to SiC-S stainless frames above. The two-piece center-cut construction uses an all-over (parallel) ferrule for flex continuity through the joint. Natural cork grips and natural wood reel seats reflect a traditional aesthetic appropriate to the series' native-trout identity.

Both models are Light power with Moderate-Fast action. The lineup spans two lengths: TRF-49 at 4'9" and TRF-53 at 5'3", both L/MF, max lure around 8 g, 6 lb line, rod weights approximately 70–71.5 g. The TRF-49 is explicitly positioned for tight mountain streams and bush-choked tributaries where casting space is severely limited and short, accurate roll casts dominate. The TRF-53 extends reach for larger streams where longer presentations are possible without sacrificing the series' fundamental flex character.
