The Paraflex is Star Rods' offshore multi-technique series using Duratech graphite. A thick-walled, thin-diameter blank construction intended to deliver high lifting power at reduced weight compared to conventional fiberglass offshore rods. Star describes these as suitable for vertical jigging, live bait, kite fishing, and light trolling, meaning the design is not locked to a single presentation. The series is backed by a limited lifetime warranty and draws on Star's stated 50+ years of rod construction experience.
All models use Fuji Concept guides with Alconite rings, Fuji reel seats, and EVA foregrips. Conventional (casting) models feature trigger reel seats. Aluminum gimbals are standard. Construction is focused on blue-water and nearshore heavy-tackle applications. The line ratings (15–100lb across the lineup) and the presence of XXH and XXXH power models confirm this is outside the light-tackle or freshwater series lane. The 22-model lineup breaks into three functional sub-groups: spinning boat rods (PFS prefix, 9'–11' in M power for surf/boat spinning), casting/conventional gigging and boat rods (PGB/PGJ/PGSU prefixes, 5'9"–7' in H through XXXH), and spinning jigging and boat rods (SGB/SGJ prefix, 5'9"–7'6" in MH through XXH).
The PFS surf spinning models are notably longer (9'–11') and fit a different application than the shorter jigging models. The PGJ and SGJ models at 5'9" in heavy powers are short-stroke jigging rods for vertical presentations in deep water.

A closer look at notable models.
Short conventional jigging model at 5'9" XXH. Short-stroke vertical jigging in deep water benefits from a compact rod that concentrates lifting power without requiring the angler to sweep the rod through a wide arc.
Spinning counterpart to the PGJ59XXH. At 5'9" XXH, it covers the same short-stroke vertical jigging technique for anglers who prefer or need spinning gear for deep jigging presentations.
XXXH power at 6'6" with 40–100lb line is the heaviest conventional rod in the lineup. Suited to deep-drop or live-bait applications made for large grouper, amberjack, or similar heavy bottom species where raw lifting power matters more than action finesse.
Longest surf spinning model at 11'. The extended length serves beach surf fishing or distance casting from piers where rod height above the wave zone and maximum cast range are primary requirements.
