The Star Rods Paraflex LT is a boat spinning rod series designed for medium-duty offshore and inshore boat fishing, the type of all-day vertical jigging, live-lining, and bottom fishing done from a stationary or drifting vessel. The "LT" designation indicates a lighter-weight, faster-taper refinement of the original Paraflex boat rod series. Target species and techniques include bottom fishing for snapper and grouper, vertical jigging for amberjack or sea bass, and live-bait work. The target angler is the boat fisherman who wants a lighter-feel rod with serious lifting capacity.
Blanks are thick-walled, thin-diameter high-density graphite, processed to produce a notably uniform bend curve under load. Paraflex construction is Star's proprietary blank method emphasizing even load distribution through the rod curve instead of a tip-heavy or butt-heavy action. Fuji K-series tangle-free concept guides with Alconite inserts; heavy-duty graphite Fuji reel seat; EVA foregrip; aluminum gimbal butt. One-piece construction on both models. Lure/jig weights run heavy, 1/2–3.5 oz, consistent with sinkers and jigs used on the drift or at anchor.
Two spinning models, both M power, both 1-piece, both with aluminum gimbals: SGB66M (6'6", 1/2–3 oz, 8 guides) and SGB70M (7'0", 3/4–3.5 oz, 9 guides). The 7-foot adds 6 inches and handles slightly heavier presentations. Casting models is absent. Both have 12–25 lb mono / 30–80 lb braid line ratings, reflecting the high-strength braid common on modern boat spinning setups.
