Star Rods' Sun King Brewery series is a freshwater light-tackle lineup made for panfish and trout anglers fishing small streams, ponds, and lakes. Target techniques include small jig fishing, light spoon work, and worm or small soft-plastic presentations. The series is not built for bass or heavier freshwater applications, UL and ML powers with light line ratings define its ceiling. One model (FL702LS-TEN with Tennessee handle) gives anglers a traditional minimalist grip option for anglers who prefer that style.
Blanks combine premium Toray carbon with Plasma resin technology for a claimed improvement in strength-to-weight ratio over standard construction. Fuji FazLite deep-pressed guides reduce friction and contribute to lighter overall weight. Fuji reel seats throughout. Handles are either VCC (padded cork composite) or the Tennessee variant, a wrapped handle style without a separate fore grip. The two-piece models (7' and 8') add packability while the one-piece shorter models prioritize feel. Pricing around $135–$140 puts this in the mid-range for panfish-targeted rods.
Seven models total, all spinning. Lengths span 4'8" to 8'. Powers are UL (four models) and ML (two models), plus one L. Short one-piece models (4'8"–6'6") cover stream trout and panfish in tight cover. The 7' L model exists in two handle variants (SFL702LS standard, FL702LS-TEN Tennessee). The 8' ML (SFL802MLS) is the longest and suits wider-water presentations like bobber fishing from a bank.

Shortest model in the lineup. 4'8" UL is a niche length for tight-cover stream trout, bank fishing under brush, or ice-edge panfishing where a longer rod is impractical.
Tennessee handle variant of the 7' L model. The Tennessee grip style eliminates the separate rear grip, reducing weight and providing a more direct feel from blank to hand. Suited to anglers who prefer traditional or ultralight stream rod aesthetics.
Longest model in the series. The 8' length extends casting range for bank anglers and allows longer float or bobber control on wider streams and ponds. ML power handles slightly heavier jigs and spinners than the UL models.
