The Jacob Wheeler 2.0 is Duckett Fishing's signature pro-staff series, developed around Jacob Wheeler's technique preferences honed during his MLF Bass Pro Tour campaigns. It updates the original Wheeler series with a revised blank compound, Sensi-Touch multi-modulus prepreg graphite, halo-sanded for smoothness, and adds carbon fiber scrim for improved durability-to-weight ratio. The intended angler is a competitive or avid recreational bass angler wanting technique-matched rods without the flagship-tier price tag.
Blanks are paired with stainless guides featuring braid-proof inserts, thin-grip comfort reel seats for improved blank-to-hand feel, and balanced actions across spinning and casting configurations. The 2.0 revision is described by users as lighter and better balanced than the original. Retail placement and the tournament backstory intended anglers in the $100–$200 performance tier who want MLF-proven action without stepping into premium American custom territory. Nine rods split across casting and spinning, with casting rods dominant.
Lengths run 6'8" to 7'6". Power covers ML through H; action is predominantly Fast, with MF on the two H-power models (73H-C and 76H-C), which suggests those are designed for moving baits and reaction presentations instead of finesse contact work. One CC (crankbait) casting model (72M-CC) stands out with a presumably softer composite action. The single UL spinning (610ML-S) extends the series to light-line finesse applications.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Only spinning rod at ML power with XF action. Unusually light power for 6'10", likely a drop-shot and light finesse spinning option covering ned rig, shaky head, and similar sub-1/4oz presentations.
Labeled CC (crankbait casting). At 7'2" M, this is positioned for medium-depth square bills and mid-runners on fluorocarbon where a softer tip loads lures and absorbs strikes; action listed as F which is atypically firm for cranking, treat spec with some caution.
MF action on an H-power rod, characteristic of a moving bait or bladed-jig rod. The softer mid-section keeps treble hooks pinned on reaction strikes while the backbone handles aggressive hook-sets in H power territory.
Longest rod in the range. H/MF at 7'6" covers big swimbait and big spinnerbait presentations where extra sweep and load are needed. Pairs well with 17–20lb fluorocarbon or 50lb braid.
