The G. Loomis Center Pin series is a three-rod float-fishing lineup built specifically for centerpin reel fishing for steelhead and salmon in drift environments. Centerpin fishing requires a long, lightweight blank that manages a running float over extended drifts, loads softly on light leaders, and absorbs the initial run of a steelhead without breaking off on fine tippets. The GLX blank material, a high-modulus graphite that is among G. Loomis's highest-performing construction, is the defining spec that distinguishes this series from more economical centerpin options.

All three rods are spinning-format with extra-long cork and composite handles fitted with Pac Bay sliding band reel seats, which allow anglers to reposition the centerpin reel for optimal rod balance. Titanium RECOIL guides save weight and spring back to shape after impact. Moderate action runs through all models, which is deliberate, a softer progressive bend manages the strike-to-fight transition on light line and allows the float presentation to land and drift naturally. Both 13-foot models use the same line and lure range basis, separated by power (Light vs. Medium-Light).

The 11'3" STR 1352 is the shorter option, suited to narrow streams, overhung banks, and tight winter conditions. The 13' STR 1562 (L/M) works as the all-around platform for typical steelhead rivers of moderate width, while the 13' STR 1563 (ML/M) steps up power and line rating for larger rivers with heavier current and longer drifts. All are sold at premium price, consistent with the GLX designation.

A closer look at notable models.

STR 1352 GLX CP Spinning · 11'3" · L · M action

The compact model at 11'3"; intended for tight streams and Pennsylvania/Indiana-style creeks where the longer 13-foot blanks create obstruction problems. Still carries the GLX construction but the shorter length sacrifices drift length in exchange for maneuverability through bankside brush.

STR 1563 GLX CP Spinning · 13'0" · ML · M action

The heavier 13-foot model; ML power and 8–12 lb line rating make it the choice for larger rivers with heavier current where longer drifts require more line management authority and where fish size warrants slightly heavier tippet.
