The G. Loomis IMX-Pro Blue Spinning series is made for Northeast US saltwater inshore and nearshore anglers, specifically striped bass, bluefish, false albacore, and small tuna, using spinning tackle with braided or mono main lines and fluorocarbon leaders. The target angler is serious about weight and sensitivity, fishing plugs, bucktails, swim shads, and soft plastics from boat or surf in the 10-65lb line range. The series is outside the general offshore rod lane; it addresses the technical demands of Northeast mixed-species coastal fishing.

Blanks use G. Loomis's Multi-Taper Design IMX-Pro material, high-modulus, high-performance graphite achieving up to 18% weight reduction compared to equivalent E6X models. Fuji Fazlite K-Frame guides are corrosion-resistant and braid-compatible. Full cork fore and rear grips with Fuji reel seat. The lineup coherence is defined by the 10-65lb line range split across XF, F, and MF actions, XF/F models for single-hook lure applications needing fast tip response, MF models for live-bait or larger bucktail presentations where a slightly softer tip aids bait action and reduces pulled hooks.

Ten spinning models span 7'0" to 8'0" in ML through MH power. The 7'0" models (842S XF, 843S F, 843S MF, 844S F, 844S MF) cover the core inshore casting range; 7'3" 874S F adds reach for the MH application; 7'6" 902S F and 903S F extend distance for open-water presentations; 7'11" 953S F pushes to the upper range for maximum reach in open-water or surf situations; the 8'0" 964S MF is the longest and heaviest-rated, positioned for live-bait or heavy bucktail work where extra length aids presentation.

A closer look at notable models.

IMX-PRO BLUE 842S XF Spinning · 7' · ML · XF action

Lightest and most finesse-oriented model; XF action with ML power and 10-30lb line range suits small swim shads, bucktails, and soft-plastic jig-heads. The extra-fast tip maximizes feel on subtle inshore bites while the IMX blank keeps weight down for long casting sessions.

IMX-PRO BLUE 844S MF Spinning · 7' · MH · MF action

MH power with MF action and 20-65lb line ceiling makes this the live-bait and big-plug option at the 7' length. The moderate-fast taper allows fish to load the rod before the hookset, which is useful for treble-hooked topwater plugs fished for stripers.

IMX-PRO BLUE 964S MF Spinning · 8'0" · MH · MF action

Longest and heaviest-rated model; the 8' length and MH/MF combination is intended for heavier bucktails or live-bait presentations from a boat where extra leverage assists fighting larger stripers or tuna, and the additional length improves lure-side control at distance.
