The G. Loomis Conquest Spin Jig (CNQ SJR) is a premium freshwater spinning rod co-developed with Shimano, sitting above the GCX in G. Loomis's lineup. It is built for bottom-contact jig and soft-plastic bass presentations, drop-shot, ned rig, shaky head, finesse jig, where sensitivity, blank integrity under torsional load, and decisive hookset power are critical. The integration of Shimano's Spiral-X blank technology is the defining distinction from the GCX SJR below it. Spiral-X uses a three-layer construction (oblique, longitudinal, reverse-oblique fibers) that reduces blank twist by up to 20% compared to conventional carbon construction, using 15–20% less material in the process.
The result is a lighter, stiffer-against-torque blank that resists ovalization during the cast and fight. All Conquest bass rods use premium Fuji Torzite guides (lighter and harder than SiC), a SiC titanium tip top, and G. Loomis's custom skeleton reel seat with blank-through handle for maximum tactile feedback. Some early production units received quality control criticism on cork and epoxy finishing, though overall angler reception has been positive, with direct comparisons to the NRX series noting the Conquest as lighter and better-balanced.
Four all-spinning models in three lengths (6'6", 7'0", 7'6") and two powers (M and MH). Two 7'0" models, CNQ 842S (M) and CNQ 843S (MH), are the core lineup. The 6'6" M (CNQ 782S) is the compact finesse option. The 7'6" M (CNQ 902S) extends reach for open-water drop-shot and long-line presentations. No MH variant in the 7'6", and no 6'6" MH, lineup is intentionally selective.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Shortest and lightest option. 6'6" gives boat anglers precision in tight spots; same lure range as the 7'6" model, but less casting reach. Most comparable to the GCX 782S SJR but with the Spiral-X blank upgrade.
Longest model at 7'6". The M-power / 1/8–1/2 oz combination at this length suits open-water drop-shot fishing where reaching fish at distance, and maintaining a tight line angle over deep structure, is the priority.
