The G. Loomis GCX Bass FPR Casting is a single-model casting rod specialized for flipping and punching heavy cover for bass. Flipping and punching are power techniques that drive heavy jigs and soft plastics through matted vegetation, dock structure, or laydowns, requiring a rod with high backbone for immediate hooksets and the leverage to pull large bass out of dense cover. The FPR designation identifies it as a Flip/Punch Rod within the GCX Bass family. The GCX blank is built on ultra-durable carbon with multi-taper design, balanced to deliver power without excessive weight.

SeaGuide Hero One guides replace the Fuji guides found on other G. Loomis tiers, providing superior line management to minimize tangles during pitching and flipping motions. Premium grade cork in a full-grip configuration wraps a quality Fuji reel seat. The rods are handcrafted in Woodland, Washington, consistent with the G. Loomis standard. The GCX series sits between the E6X and IMX-Pro tiers in the G. Loomis hierarchy. The GCX 894C FPR is a 7'5" heavy-power fast-action casting rod rated for 17–25 lb line and 1/4–1 1/4 oz lures.

The heavy power and stout fast-action taper provide the authority for driving a hook through a flipping jig into a hard mouth at close range, then redirecting a fish away from cover. The 7'5" length gives reach for pitching presentations while keeping the rod manageable in a seated position.
