The GLX SYR (Shakey Head Rod) Spinning is G. Loomis's dedicated shakey head spinning rod within the 2023 GLX Bass platform. It is built for finesse anglers fishing a shaky head jig, a finesse worm mounted on a light round jighead, and for similar subtle bottom-contact presentations such as Ned rigs in open water or near cover. The Extra Fast action and Mag-Medium power are calibrated to impart maximum quiver into the worm tip with minimum rod movement.
The blank uses the same GLX Multi-Taper Design as other 2023 GLX Bass models: stepped mandrels that selectively add and remove material along the blank to balance sensitivity and strength. CI4+ reel seat amplifies blank transmission; Fuji K SiC tangle-free guides manage light braid or fluorocarbon. The extra-fast tip flex is the defining characteristic, tuned so that a subtle wrist shake telegraphs directly to the bait.
A single model exists in this series: 6'10", Mag-Medium power, Extra Fast action, 8–12 lb line, 1/8–5/16 oz lures, spinning. This is a technique-specific rod with no length or power range within the SYR lineup.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
The Extra Fast action is the functional differentiator here, it allows a minimal wrist movement to create maximum tip oscillation, which is what shaky head technique demands. Mag-Medium power retains enough sensitivity for detecting bottom composition and subtle bites while providing sufficient backbone for hook sets at depth. The 6'10" length works for both boat and bank applications.
