The IMX-PRO Green is G. Loomis's inshore casting rod series designed for Southern Florida flats fishing and equivalent shallow-water saltwater environments. Primary target species are snook, redfish, bonefish, and speckled trout pursued with artificial lures, small swimbaits, soft plastics, and topwater, in clear, skinny water where casting accuracy and bite detection under light-tackle conditions are more important than hauling power. TaperTec construction is the blank's defining feature, the taper rate is varied along the blank's length to tune action without adding material weight, producing a rod that is lighter and more responsive than a uniform-taper equivalent.
CI4+ reel seat transmits vibration from lure contact and structure directly to the palm. Fuji guides with Alconite inserts over a premium cork handle are standard. Fast action on both models keeps the tip responsive for working subtle artificials and detecting follows from suspicious inshore fish. Pairs well with 2500-class spinning or small baitcasting reels. Two baitcasting models, both 6'8": IMX PRO GREEN 801C WDR (ML power, 8–15 lb line, 1/8–3/16 oz lure) and 802C WDR (M power, 10–15 lb line, 1/4–1/2 oz lure).
The ML 801C is the finesse end, very light lures for nervous fish in ultra-shallow water; the M 802C handles slightly weightier presentations such as small jerkbaits and weighted soft plastics. Both are baitcasting format, WDR (Wade/Distance Rod?) designation common to the inshore Green series.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
ML power with a very tight lure ceiling (3/16 oz max) places this firmly in finesse flats territory, small surface flies, ultra-light paddletails, and sub-1/4 oz artificials. Built for nervous fish in clear, shallow water where presentation delicacy matters most.
M power opens up the lure range to 1/2 oz, covers small jerkbaits, DOA-style shrimp, and weedless soft plastics. The more versatile of the two for mixed-bag inshore fishing without moving into heavy tackle.
