IMX Pro Topwater Frog

Technique-specific frog rod built for casting hollow-body frogs and toads over heavy vegetation, matted grass, and lily pads. Target angler is a bass fisherman fishing dense cover where both cast accuracy and the ability to move hooked fish out of weeds immediately after the strike are critical. Fast action tip aids frog walking cadence and hook-set speed; H power provides backbone for hauling fish through cover. Not versatile across techniques, the fast action and specific line ratings define a narrow use case.

Blanks use G. Loomis multi-taper technology on IMX-PRO material, proprietary blend that is lighter than standard IMX while maintaining stiffness. Fuji K-frame guides with Alconite rings are oversized to accommodate heavy braid (20–65lb PE), which is standard for frog fishing in thick cover. Premium cork handles with subtly tapered split-grip design. Both models are 7'4" casting rods, distinguishing only on line and lure rating. The two models share identical length, power, and action but are calibrated for different cover density and lure weight.

The 884C (line 6–12lb) is lighter-duty and suitable for open-grass or lighter frog presentations; the 885C (line 12–25lb, lure to 1oz) handles denser matted cover and heavier frogs/toads. The line rating on the 884C appearing as 6–12lb is notably light for heavy-cover frog fishing, anglers fishing thick mats would typically opt for the 885C.
