The G. Loomis IMX Twitch is a spinning rod series designed specifically for twitching marabou and feather jigs for Pacific salmon, primarily coho (silver) salmon, in moving water. The technique requires a precise extra-fast action that loads and unloads quickly to impart the erratic, darting motion these jigs need to trigger strikes, while the rod must still have enough mid-blank power to handle large salmon in current. The series serves experienced salmon and steelhead anglers fishing rivers and tidal tributaries during coho runs.

Both blanks are built on G. Loomis's IMX graphite construction, a multi-taper, multi-modulus design that keeps overall weight low while providing the blank recovery speed the twitching technique demands. The extra-fast (XF) taper across both models means the top third of the blank provides most of the action, leaving a strong lower two-thirds for line management and fish fighting. Fuji guides and reel seat hardware are standard on the IMX platform. The "CHR" in model names denotes conventional handle with right-hand configuration (chrome hardware) on spinning models at this spec level.

The lineup spans two lengths and power classes. The 7'6" IMX 9000S TWCHR (L, 6–12 lb, 1/4–1/2 oz) is the core model for standard coho jig sizes in typical river conditions. The 7'9" IMX 931S TWCHR (M, 10–20 lb, 1/4–1 oz) is described as the "big brother", designed for heavier jigs needed in faster, deeper water or when larger fish are expected, providing more power without sacrificing the XF action.

A closer look at notable models.

IMX 9000S TWCHR Spinning · 7'6" · L · XF action

The standard coho twitcher at 7'6" light power. Lure range 1/4–1/2 oz and 6–12 lb line matches typical marabou jig weights for coho in moderate flows. The XF taper provides the rapid tip recovery needed to generate the jig's flutter on the pause.

IMX 931S TWCHR Spinning · 7'9" · M · XF action

The heavier-current, heavier-jig model at 7'9" medium power. Line rating extends to 20 lb and lure ceiling reaches 1 oz, intended for faster, deeper runs where a heavier jig is required to reach the strike zone, or when made for larger chinook-scale fish on the same technique.
