The G. Loomis NRX+ Shakyhead Spinning Rod is a finesse bass rod built specifically for the shaky head technique, a drop-shot adjacent presentation that involves slowly dragging or shaking a lightly-weighted soft plastic jig along the bottom. The technique requires a rod with enough tip sensitivity to detect subtle bites and impart micro-action without over-driving the bait, plus backbone enough to set the hook firmly and control fish around structure. This rod serves tournament-level and serious recreational bass anglers.
The NRX+ blank incorporates Shimano's Spiral-X technology, diagonal, opposing layers of carbon tape that increase torsional rigidity without adding weight. The hybrid guide train mixes Fuji Titanium SiC and ultralight RECOIL guides to balance sensitivity and weight reduction. The CI4+ reel seat maximizes blank contact. The NRX+ tier is G. Loomis's premium production series, hand-built in Woodland, Washington. The Shakyhead variant sits alongside other finesse NRX+ models (drop shot, ned rig, neko) as a technique-specific tool within the lineup.
The series contains a single model, the NRX+ 822S SYR at 6'10" with Mag-Medium power and Extra Fast action, rated for 8–12 lb line and 1/8–5/16 oz lures. The 6'10" length and Mag-Medium power (between M and MH) provide reach for long casts on spinning tackle while retaining the muscle to move big bass in tight cover. MSRP is in the premium NRX+ range.

Sole model. The Mag-Medium power designation sits between standard M and MH, providing the extra stiffness needed to drag a shaky head through grass or gravel while remaining light enough for all-day spinning use. XF action keeps tip movement precise without deadening feel on soft bites.
