Trout Series Spinning Rods

The G. Loomis Trout Series Spinning Rods are a GLX-grade ultralight freshwater series made for creek and stream trout anglers fishing small natural presentations, micro spinners, inline spinners, small spoons, and lightweight soft plastics, on light line in clear water. All four models are ultra-light to light power with fast to moderate-fast action, emphasizing sensitivity and casting precision over power. The GLX proprietary carbon fiber blend produces blanks that are measurably lighter and more sensitive than standard IM6 or IM7 offerings at comparable price tiers.

All models use Recoil stainless-steel spiral guides which resist corrosion, don't break when stepped on, and self-align after impact, advantages for anglers fishing remote or brushy stream environments. Cork grips and an up-locking reel seat are standard. The two single-piece models (TSR690S-1 and TSR791S-1) are more sensitive than the two-piece variants (TSR 801-2 and TSR 862-2) but less practical for travel. The line ratings run from 2–8 lb, and lure ceilings stay below 5/16 oz, these rods are not appropriate for anything beyond the lightest freshwater applications.

Four spinning models cover three lengths from 5'9" to 7'2" across two piece counts. The TSR690S-1 (5'9", UL, MF, 3–4 lb) is the shortest, most sensitive one-piece for tight streams. The TSR791S-1 (6'7", UL, F, 3–4 lb) extends reach slightly while maintaining UL power. The TSR 801-2 (6'8", UL, F, 2–6 lb) is a two-piece with a slightly broader line range. The TSR 862-2 (7'2", L, F, 4–8 lb) is the heaviest, longest, and most capable model for mid-river open water and slightly larger trout.
