The G. Loomis Walleye FR IMX S is a finesse spinning rod built for light-line walleye presentations where bite frequency depends on reduced tackle visibility and minimal resistance. Finesse techniques in walleye fishing include small drop-shot rigs, diminutive jigs, and light slip-sinker setups used when walleye are pressured or feeding selectively on smaller forage. The IMX tier positions this above E6X rods in sensitivity and construction while remaining more accessible than NRX.
The IMX blank uses G. Loomis's high-modulus graphite construction with multi-taper design for a balanced swing weight and precise action through the blank. The extra-fast taper delivers maximum tip sensitivity, transmitting subtle bottom contact and hesitant bites directly to the angler's hand. Fuji guides and a full-grade-A cork handle are standard. The rod is a single-piece construction, which maximizes blank continuity and sensitivity over two-piece designs.
The IMX 801S WFR is a 6'8" light-power extra-fast spinning rod rated for 6–10 lb line and 1/16–1/4 oz lures. The light power and extra-fast taper are tuned to the smallest lure weights in the walleye finesse range. This is a single-model series focusing entirely on the light-line finesse niche within G. Loomis's broader walleye lineup, which includes E6X and IMX rods spanning rigging, trolling, bottom bouncing, and jigging applications.
