The Ocean Gate Aji is a four-model spinning series for aji (horse mackerel) light-game fishing, one of the most popular saltwater light-game techniques in Japan. Models span 5ft5in (UL) to 6ft10in (L) with lure weights from 0.2-5g at the shorter end to 0.4-10g at the longer. All four use Extra Fast action blanks and monofilament line ratings (2lb to 3lb) rather than PE, suited to the light jig-head rigs used in aji fishing.
Rod weights are among the lightest in the Ocean Gate range: 72g for the two shortest models, 76g and 77g for the longer two. This keeps fatigue to a minimum during multi-hour night sessions from piers or rocky shorelines. The four-model spread covers the full aji fishing length spectrum from the compact 5ft5in suited to close-range pier work to the 6ft10in for open-shore casting.
