Ocean Gate Mebaru

The Ocean Gate Mebaru is a two-model spinning series for mebaru (rockfish/black rockfish) light-game fishing from piers, breakwalls, and rocky shorelines. The UL model (7ft2in, 1-7g) and the L model (7ft6in, 1-10g) both use Fast action blanks and PE#0.15-0.4 line. Rod weights are 85g and 90g.

Mebaru fishing uses very small jig-heads (typically 1-3g) and soft plastic grubs worked slowly near bottom structure. The solid tip indicated by the ST designation in the model codes (JOG-72UL-K ST MB, JOG-76L-K ST MB) is critical for transmitting the subtle touch-bottom and pick-up bites from mebaru at close range. The PE#0.15-0.4 rating reflects the fine line required to get maximum sensitivity through light jig-heads.

The two models differ by 4 inches and a modest lure ceiling increase (7g to 10g). At ¥18,150 and ¥18,700, the Ocean Gate Mebaru is positioned as an entry-accessible specialist series for one of Japan's most technically refined shore light-game techniques.
