Ocean Gate Super Light Jigging

The Ocean Gate Super Light Jigging (SLJ) is a two-model spinning series for vertical and semi-vertical jigging with small, fast-falling metal jigs from a boat or kayak. The UL model (6ft4in, MAX60g) and the L model (6ft6in, MAX80g) both use Regular action blanks and PE#0.4-1.0 and PE#0.6-1.2 respectively. Rod weights are 100g and 107g.

SLJ is a technique built around slow-pitch and flutter jig actions in the 40-80g range, targeting snapper, amberjack, grouper, and other demersal species in water from 20m to 80m. The Regular action blank in both Ocean Gate SLJ models provides the loading and rebound tempo that makes flutter jigs animate correctly, in contrast to the Fast action blanks used in the casting-oriented Ocean Gate models.

Priced at ¥17,050 and ¥17,600, the Ocean Gate SLJ is one of the most accessible SLJ rod options in the Japanese market. The two-model range covers the main SLJ weight spread without requiring anglers to carry separate rods for 40g and 80g jig categories.
