The Okuma Cedros A Jigging is a heavy-duty speed jigging and bottom jigging series built for offshore anglers made for large pelagics and deep-water bottom species, tuna, amberjack, yellowtail, grouper, and similar serves where jig weights exceed 80g and line classes run 30–200 lb. The series spans a demanding power range, from M models handling moderate jig weights through XXH models rated for jigs approaching 25 oz, making it one of the more comprehensive heavy jigging lineups at its price tier. Blanks are E-glass construction, a deliberate choice to absorb the shock from low-stretch braided lines under strike, while maintaining the lifting power needed for deep-water fish.
ALPS high-rise 316 stainless steel guide frames with Zirconium inserts handle braid friction at high line loads. Spiral-shaped EVA foregrips and a machined aluminum reel seat (ALPS pyramid design) distinguish the component specification from budget offshore alternatives. The series carries a lifetime warranty and is frequently cited as competitive with rods at higher price points. Fourteen models divide into conventional (casting) and spinning formats across three lengths: 5'6", 6', and 6'6" for casting; 6' and 7' for spinning.
Power ratings climb from M through XXH. The 5'6" XH and XXH casting models handle the heaviest jigs for targeted deep-water amberjack or giant trevally scenarios. The M and MH models at 6' and 6'6" address lighter-duty speed jigging. Spinning models top out at H power, suited for situations where spinning gear is preferred for jig presentation.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
The most powerful model in the lineup at 5'6" XXH. Rated to 700g jig weight, this is specialized for deepest-water applications made for large amberjack, grouper, or giant trevally requiring extreme lifting power.
XH power at 5'6" with an XF action, compact and powerful for boat-side deep drops where rod length is a constraint and heavy jigs need to be worked with short, aggressive strokes.
Lightest casting model, M power at 6'6" with moderate action. Most accessible entry for general speed jigging on lighter jigs where the heavier models would over-power the presentation.
Heavy-power spinning at 7' for anglers who prefer spinning gear on large pelagics. Handles significant jig weights on heavy braid while providing reach for casting presentations.
Longest model in the lineup at 7'. M power spinning for lighter jig speeds and situations where spinning tackle aids presentation, casting jigs to breaking fish or working medium-depth water.
