The ECS Customs series serves saltwater boat anglers working the U. S. East Coast, live bait, bottom fishing, and offshore trolling in heavy current with large pelagics. Line ratings from 12 lb to 200 lb span a wide spectrum of inshore and bluewater applications, making this a mixed-species platform instead of a single-technique tool. Blanks are built from a hybrid 24-ton carbon and e-glass construction, which trades some tip sensitivity for durability under sustained loads.
Okuma's UFR-II (Ultimate Flex Reinforcement) tip technology adds resistance against tip fold-over during heavy lifts. Spinning and casting rods use ALPS deep-press 316-grade stainless frames with zirconium inserts. Trolling variants split into two configurations: roller stripper and roller tip (ECS-T prefix), and full all-roller guide train (ECS-TRS/TRB prefix with ALPS RX series rollers). All rods feature machined anodized aluminum gimbals. Backed by a 3-year limited warranty.
The 12-rod lineup is organized into four sub-groups: five spinning models (S prefix, 6'0" to 7'10", M through H power), three standard casting models (C prefix, 6'0" to 7'0", M through XH), two trolling rods with partial roller guides (T prefix, 6'0" and 6'4"), and two full all-roller trolling rods (TRS and TRB, both 6'0", H and XH). MSRP scales from ~$230 for spinning/casting to ~$600+ for full-roller trolling builds.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Compact heavy casting rod suited to chunking or live lining large baits near structure. 50–130 lb line rating handles braided mainline to heavy-test mono leaders without roller guides.
Full all-roller guide train (ALPS RX rollers), carbon and straight rod butts, rated to 200 lb. Intended for heavy offshore trolling, tuna, billfish, where line-to-guide friction and heat under sustained drag pressure are concerns.
All-roller trolling rod at H power; lighter-duty sibling to the TRB-601XH. Covers mid-range trolling for wahoo, mahi, or smaller tuna on 50–150 lb setups.
Heaviest standard casting model; suited to shark rigs, large grouper, or amberjack where raw lifting power matters more than sensitivity. 6'6" length gives modest leverage advantage over the 6'0" H.
Lighter casting option at 15–30 lb for smaller inshore species or lighter flounder/sea bass rigs. The 7' length and medium power make this the most versatile casting model in the series.
Longest model in the lineup and the only one rated Fast (instead of Moderate-Fast) action. Extra length aids casting distance for lighter inshore presentations; the faster tip improves feel on live bait runs.
