Gls Custom Rods

Okuma GLS (Great Lakes Series) Custom is a salmon and steelhead spinning and casting series focused on the Great Lakes tributaries and similar river systems. It serves drift fishing, float fishing, and back-bouncing for steelhead and chinook salmon. The series is outside the surf or sea rod lane. Its length range (9'–12') and moderate line ratings (4–20 lb) confirm river use. "Custom" designation reflects upgraded component specification compared to Okuma's entry-level steelhead series.

Blanks are 30-ton carbon with Okuma's Dual Helix wrap (over 6,000 strands of carbon thread) and UMR (Ultra Mass Reduction) tip technology. Guides are Sea Guide stainless steel frames with oversized zirconium inserts, designed to resist freezing in cold-weather fishing. The frame and guide sizing allows both monofilament and braid to run cleanly. No warranty duration is published in available sources. Nine models. Seven spinning, two casting.

Lengths run 9'0" to 12'0" in spinning; casting models are both 11'0" (M and ML). Powers cover L through MH; actions are mostly moderate with a few moderate-fast models. The MH spinning model (9'0") at 3/4–3 oz handles heavier plugs or back-bouncing applications. The 12'0" M spinning model is the outlier. Likely a long-line float or side-drift rod for open river runs.
