Hcs Custom Surf Rods

The HCS Custom Surf Rod is Okuma's specialized heavy surf platform, made for experienced beach and coastal anglers made for large species, bonefish, stingrays, large drum, sharks, from sand beaches and rocky shores where maximum casting distance and lifting power are required. The series positions itself a step above basic surf rods with a component package reflecting serious surf fishing demands. Blanks are 30-ton carbon in a 3-piece format for transport.

Guide trains use Fuji 3-legged deep-pressed Low Rider frames with Alconite inserts, corrosion-resistant and hard-wearing in salt and sand. Reel seats use a custom carbon fiber pipe with Fuji hoods. A counter-balancing weight system in the rear butt cap reduces tip-heavy swing weight during the cast. Non-slip shrink tube grips flank the reel seat and an ergonomic EVA tapered rear grip is standard. Both models share XH power and MF (moderate-fast) taper, the action loads through the mid-blank for maximum distance casting of heavy sinkers and bait.

The lineup uses length as its organizing variable, with identical power (XH), action (MF), line (20–50 lb), and lure weight (4–8 oz / 120–250 g) across both models. The HCS-S-1333XH is 13'3" weighing 18.8 oz; the HCS-S-1423XH steps to 14'2" and 20.6 oz for additional casting distance on wide open beaches. Both models sold out quickly on initial release.
