Rockaway Travel Surf Rods

The Rockaway Travel Surf series addresses the specific need of surf anglers who travel by air or on multi-day trips where a full one-piece or two-piece surf rod is impractical. It is made for beach, jetty, and pier anglers made for striped bass, bluefish, redfish, and similar surf species with live bait, chunk bait, or heavy jigs. The three-piece construction folds into a compact package while maintaining surf-appropriate power.

Blanks are 24-ton carbon fiber. UFR-II reinforcement in the tip section resists the high-stress snap of heavy casting. XQ-series angled Sea Guide 316-stainless frames with zirconium inserts are compatible with both mono and braid. Tip-over butt ferrule connections are designed to minimize power loss at the joints. Tapered shrink-tube grips instead of traditional EVA or cork reduce weight and grip degradation from sand and salt.

Five spinning models in 8'6"–12' lengths, all MH. The two shorter models (8'6"–9'6") carry M-F action and a lighter lure ceiling of 3/4–2 oz, suiting shorter beach shots or jetty work with lighter bait. The two longer models (10' and 12') run M action with a 1–4 oz range for longer casts from open beach. The 12' model is the only one with enough reach for deep-water surf casting into heavy current.
