Sarasota Rods

The Sarasota series is Okuma's inshore saltwater lineup, made for anglers made for snook, redfish, and similar nearshore species in Florida-style environments. The lineup covers general inshore casting and spinning duty as well as heavier boat/trolling applications, making it a broad-purpose saltwater tool instead of a technique-specific instrument. It is not built for freshwater bass or offshore bluewater work.

Blanks vary by subcategory: the casting and spinning rods use 24-ton graphite, while the trolling/boat models shift to E-glass for durability under sustained load. All rods feature Okuma's UFR-II rod tip reinforcement. Guides are SeaGuide frames with zirconium inserts rated for braided line. Trolling models carry a slick-butt nylon butt section; spinning models use EVA grip. Components are mid-grade, functional for the price bracket, not premium.

The lineup divides into three functional groups: seven-foot spinning and casting rods in M through H power for inshore casting work; and a trio of six-foot boat/trolling rods with heavier ratings (MH to XH) and line up to 150 lb for offshore-adjacent use. The -T- designation in model codes marks the trolling/boat models. Casting split is 6 conventional, 2 spinning.
