Sst A Special Edition Rods

A limited subset of Okuma's broader SST (Salmon, Steelhead, Trout) line, the Special Edition Carbon Grip series serves Pacific Northwest salmon and steelhead anglers who want upgraded cosmetics and grip construction over the standard SST. The SE suffix designates Special Edition; CGa indicates 3K woven carbon fore and rear grips instead of cork, a distinction that appeals to anglers fishing wet conditions where cork can lose grip feel. The lineup is peculiarly heterogeneous for a coldwater series, two surf-length casting models at 9'0" and 10'6" and two shorter spinning models, suggesting this batch consolidates special-edition versions of technique-specific SKUs instead of a coherent single-application lineup.

Blanks are 24/30-ton low-resin carbon, lighter and more sensitive than the older IM-8 foundation in standard SST rods. Stainless guide frames with Zirconium inserts handle braid throughout. Reel seat style varies by model type. The CGa carbon grip is the primary differentiator from standard SST A Carbon Grip rods, the SE designation adds a metallic copper cosmetic finish. The two casting models (9'0" H and 10'6" H, both rated 15–50 lb / 1–6 oz and 2–8 oz) are long salmon or surf-style presentation rods suited to side drifting, plunking, or back-bouncing from the bank.

The two spinning models (7'0" L and 9'0" M) cover light trout presentation and medium steelhead drift work respectively. The H-power surf-length casters and L-power trout spinner share a series only by cosmetic and grip-upgrade association, technique serves diverge significantly.
