The Tundra is Okuma's entry-level surf and general long-rod spinning series, built primarily around fiberglass for durability and cost. Target applications include surf bottom fishing (pyramid sinker rigs, bait presentations), pier fishing, and general surf species, stripers, drum, and surf perch depending on region. The fiberglass construction makes it forgiving on the hookset and resistant to impact, at the cost of added weight versus graphite alternatives. Reviews consistently note the value proposition but flag the heavier feel on larger models.

Construction is fiberglass with a reinforced blank, ceramic guide inserts, graphite/stainless reel seat, and full EVA grip. The rod tip is described as surprisingly soft for the blank's overall stiffness, useful for bait fishing where tip movement signals bites without disturbing them. A rubber butt cap and long EVA grip configuration are standard. The 3-section blanks (on larger models) require attention at connections to prevent seizing after a salt session. Six spinning models covering a wide range: 7' M (lightest, 6–15 lb, 1/4–3/4 oz) through 15' MH (10–30 lb, 2–8 oz).

The 7' and 8' models are lighter freshwater or light surf applications, underpowered for heavy sinker surf work. The 10' through 15' models address progressively longer-range surf scenarios. The 15' TU-150 is a specialty long-range heaver that rewards technique but is difficult for inexperienced casters. The MF action across most models suits bait fishing better than active plug work.

TU-70 Spinning · 7' 0" · M · MF action

The series outlier, at 7' M with 6–15 lb rating this is a freshwater or light inshore rod, outside the surf rod lane. Can double as a catfish or general live-bait stick. The fiberglass blank suits float fishing and bait presentations where sensitivity is secondary to toughness.

TU-150 Spinning · 15' 0" · MH · MF action

Top of range, 15 ft. Built for maximum casting distance from open beach. Fiberglass at this length is heavy, extended sessions will fatigue most anglers. Best used from a sand spike or rod holder for bait fishing instead of active plug casting.
