The Okuma X Series Bass Rods target freshwater bass anglers across both spinning and baitcasting styles. The series is Okuma's flagship domestic bass rod offering and received Field & Stream's best overall award in their 2025 baitcasting rod test. It is made for experienced to serious recreational bass anglers who want high-end construction without paying $400+. Blanks are 46-ton carbon fiber with Okuma's proprietary UXR (Ultimate X Reinforced Multi-Directional Fiber Technology) wrap, which is said to improve durability and responsiveness versus standard unidirectional layups.
Un-sanded blank finish is used on all models. Components include carbon fiber reel seats and Fuji guides. The series is 1-piece on most models. Action ratings run Fast and XF. Moderate entries in the lineup is absent. The 11-model lineup spans 7'0" to 7'6" across casting and spinning configurations. Casting models run from 7'0" M through 7'6" H. Spinning covers 7'0" ML, 7'3" M and ML, 7'6" M and ML.
The XF-action 731MH casting model and 731ML spinning model stand out as technique-specific fast-tip entries. Notably absent from the lineup is a 7'0" MH casting model, an observation noted by reviewers.

A closer look at notable models.
The sole XF-action casting model. XF tip in MH power makes this the series' dedicated flipping, punching, and finesse jig rod, quick hookset response on slack-line bites. Paired against the F-action 731H for anglers deciding between speed and power.
XF spinning model. ML at 7'3" XF is tuned for drop shot and finesse jig work where detecting light bites on light line is critical. The extra-fast tip fires on subtle pickups that a standard F-action rod might dampen.
Heaviest and longest model in the series. H at 7'6" handles swimbaits, heavy jigs, and flipping with 25lb line. The extra reach versus the 7'0" H model improves distance casting on open water and provides more leverage in cover.
