Spec 10

Spec 10 is a hechifishing (wall/dock fishing) pole series in three lengths: 2.4m (7'10"), 2.7m (8'10"), and 3.0m (9'10"). All three are 95% carbon and pack to approximately 50cm. Pieces are 6, 7, and 8 respectively. Rod weights run 102g (240M), 113g (270M+), and 141g (300MH). Tip diameter is 1.0mm across all three.

Hechifishing (hechi-zuri) is a Japanese urban shore style where the angler drops a baited hook directly along the face of pilings, walls, or jetty bases and watches the line for the subtle signals of a take. Target species is primarily kurodai (black sea bream / chinu). The three action ratings progress from Medium (240M) through Medium-Plus (270M+) to Medium-Heavy (300MH). Sinker load runs 1-3号 (approx. 4-11g) for the two lighter models and 1-5号 (approx. 4-18g) for the 300MH; leader ratings are 0.6-2.0号 and 0.8-3.0号 respectively.

The combination of a sensitive 1.0mm tip and a capable lower section is characteristic of hechi rod design: the tip must transmit minute line movements to the angler's hand, while the butt section must have sufficient power to turn a large bream away from the piling it is running toward. The spec.10 is the only rod in the RGM lineup built specifically for saltwater bait fishing.
